Our team embodies the spirit of Isivivana, a place where people can come together to collaborate, create, learn and grow.

Centre Director
Bulelwa Ndibongo

Our multi-faceted and impactful Centre Director, Bulelwa Ndibongo, has been heading up Isivivana since 2019.

Our multi-faceted and impactful Centre Director, Bulelwa Ndibongo, has been heading up Isivivana since 2019. Bulelwa grew up in Johannesburg and studied at the University of the Western Cape. With a foundation as a qualified teacher and a psychometrist, she brings a unique blend of educational expertise and psychological insight to her diverse role.

 

Bulelwa was the Programme Head for Child and Vulnerable Programme at Ikamva Labantu for eight years before joining Isivivana Centre, and has also served as Programmes Manager at EMEP (The Extra – Mural Education Project) and Youth Manager at the Planned Parenthood Association of South Africa. Notably, Bulelwa played a pivotal role in the development of the GOLD Youth Development Agency.

 

Bulelwa is committed to driving positive change in education, youth development, and community empowerment and helping individuals to reach their full potential by fostering a sense of purpose and self-worth. “I thrive in developing people to do their best and realising their worth,” says Bulelwa

Athenkosi Sityata

As head of our finance department, Athi is responsible for keeping the Centre’s finances in order.

As head of our finance department, Athi is responsible for keeping the Centre’s finances in order, drawing up budgets and managing our accounts, with years of experience in the financial field. The Willowvale local completed his schooling in Elliot in the Eastern Cape. Along with his professionalism and financial expertise, Athi is committed to fostering community development and has a genuine desire to make a lasting impact.

Ayanda Msebenzi

Ayanda Msebenzi has a background in the film and television industry. He has an Advanced Diploma in Film & Television from City Varsity.

With seven years of experience in the industry, Ayanda has worked on a diverse range of international and local productions. Since joining Isivivana Centre Bertha Movie House in June 2021, Ayanda has played a pivotal role in promoting cinema culture in Khayelitsha. His contributions involve curating film selections, organizing events, and engaging with the community to enhance their cinematic experience. This aligns with the community-based and edutainment focus of Bertha Movie House, emphasizing its commitment to enriching the local cultural scene. Ayanda’s role at Bertha Movie House reflects his passion for cinema and a desire to contribute to the cultural growth of the community. His diverse experiences and dedication make him a valuable voice in fostering a vibrant film culture in Khayelitsha.

Yolisa Benya

Yolisa Benya was born in Gugulethu, Cape Town, and later relocated to Ilitha Park Khayelitsha. Following her high school years, Yolisa pursued a BTech in Entrepreneurship in Management at CPUT.

Beyond her academic pursuits, she has actively engaged in facilitating school holiday programs across various areas in Khayelitsha. With a curious nature, Yolisa further expanded her skills by participating in a program to learn Python Programming. She dedicates her spare time to crafting web pages and engaging in other digital marketing-related projects. Yolisa envisions herself as a future businesswoman,
aspiring to manage AL programs within her community.

Olwethu Mduma

With over 8 years of experience in the field, Olwethu is committed to ensuring that our Library users have access to the best resources and services possible.

With over 8 years of experience in the field, Olwethu is committed to ensuring that our Library users have access to the best resources and services possible. Olwethu started at Isivivana as an intern and with committed hard work and her studies, has risen to the position of Library Co-ordinator. Olwethu provides invaluable support to learners, students and library users, offering important guidance and invaluable insights. She also ensures that the Library programmes are dynamic, engaging and meet the community’s needs.

Uyanda Lujabe

Our Library assistant, Uyanda, joined the team in 2023 and plays a key role in assisting our Library Co-ordinator.

Luthando Mlanjana

With his vast experience running his own construction company, Luthando ensures that the Centre is well maintained.

With his vast experience running his own construction company, Luthando ensures that the Centre is well maintained, providing a safe and functioning space for tenants and visitors. Luthando was born in Nyanga before moving to Khayelitsha, and studied Town and Regional Planning at CPUT. This academic background has equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of urban development, enabling him to contribute meaningfully to the enhancement of the spaces he oversees.

Zwelixolile Sifumba

As the dedicated and professional Supervisor of our security team, Zwelixolile has been committed to safeguarding our building

As the dedicated and professional Supervisor of our security team, Zwelixolile has been committed to safeguarding our building, tenants and visitors since the Centre opened in 2016. Born and raised in of Nqamakwe in the Eastern Cape, Zweli is an excellent and capable team leader.

Lulama Mhlauli has always been dedicated to community safety. Since joining our team, Lulama has become a key figure in ensuring the security of Isivivana and he contributes daily to the safety, prosperity, and community spirit at Isivivana.

Abdullah Basuzwa Munyaka

Abdullah is committed to ensuring that Isivivana Centre is a safe and secure space. Before joining us, Abdullah worked for Médecins Sans Frontières for 12 years. He brings a unique blend of experience and knowledge to the Isivivana team.

Born and raised in Queenstown in the Eastern Cape, Bongiwe joined the Isivivana security team in April 2023. Bongiwe quickly integrated into the team and has shown herself to be a committed and hardworking employee.

Thamsanqa Mani plays a key role in safeguarding our building and the tenants and community members who enjoy our facilities. Thamsanqa comes from East London in the Eastern Cape and joined the Isivivana team in 2023.

Tony Lumkile was born and raised in Umtata, and now lives in Khayeltsha. He joined the security team at Isivivana in February 2024. He enjoys interacting with people and brings enthusiasm and energy to his role.

As an experienced and key member of our security team Sonwabo Cekiso strives to ensure the safety and well-being of staff members, tenants and visitors to the Centre. Born and raised in Willowvale in the Eastern Cape, Sonwabo is reliable, trustworthy and hardworking.

Housekeeping Supervisor
Vatiswa Mgadi

Vatiswa is an original member of the Isivivana team (from 2016) and ensures that the Centre is
kept clean and tidy. She started as a housekeeper and was promoted to housekeeping supervisor. She grew up in Lady Frere in the Eastern Cape and was educated at Uxolo High School.
