This theme challenges filmmakers and celebrates storytellers who dare to break through barriers — within themselves and the world — to bring something bold, authentic, and powerful to life. Because nothing truly born comes without breaking.
WHAT BIRTH DEMANDS speaks to the resilience, sacrifice, and triumph that define the creative spirit. For African storytellers, it is a reclamation of our sacred inheritance — the art of orality. It’s a call to disrupt, to innovate, and to craft stories that are unapologetically our own, grounded in generations of endurance and brilliance.
Join us from 26–31 October 2025 for a week of film screenings, workshops, panels, and networking opportunities with both emerging and established industry voices.
