Nomntu Mini – Building Manager

Nomntu was born in Port Elizabeth and moved to Cape Town at the start of our new democracy in 1994. She holds a bachelor of arts in Human Ecology. Nomntu has worked for BKE Builders in Gugulethu, Citizen Surveys in Woodstock and lastly for Médecins Sans Frontières as a financial assistant coordinator for ten years.

Alta du Plooy - Cinema Manager

Alta joined the Isivivana Centre as the Cinema Manager for the Bertha Movie House in January 2017. She did Film Studies and Journalism at the University of Cape Town and the North-West University respectively, and she fosters a keen interest in African cinemas.

Rae Human - Bertha Movie House Intern

Independent filmmaker and screenwriter, Rae Human, has worked with the likes of the Desmond Tutu Foundation, iPrEP Study, UCT and Community Systems Strengthening networks to realise social justice films with Azania Rizings for two years. In the meantime, she has found time to start her own production company and produce her own content in an docu-style three part-webseries (in production) called PITTEKOPPE.

Jongihlanga Mbanga - Library Manager

Jongihlanga Mbanga became part of Isivivana Centre in January 2017 as a Library Manager. He holds a B. BIBL (Hons) and B.BIBL from the University of Fort Hare, Alice in the Eastern Cape. Jongi is currently pursuing his MPhil specialising in Digital Curation at the University of Cape Town. He is very fond and knowledgeable about both adult and children's literature.

Olwethu Mduma - Library Intern

Olwethu became part of the Isivivana Centre in April 2017 as the Library Intern. Previously, Olwethu spent two years at the Kulani Public Library, City of Cape Town Library Services, as a volunteer. She also worked at SCOUT SA as a facilitator.

Siyabonga Boesman - Bookings and Maintenance Officer

Siyabonga was born in a small village called Dlakavu in Lady Frare. He studied human resource management at CPUT and worked at CPUT for more than two years in various departments (HR Department, Faculty of Engineering and the Centre for Community Engagement and Work-Integrated Learning). Siyabonga joined the Isivivana team in June 2017.

Abdul Bususwa – Security

Abdul joined the Isivivana team in September 2016. He previously worked for Médecins Sans Frontières for 12 years. He is studying Electrical Engineering part time.

Malima Mlawuli – Security

Malima grew up in Alice in the Eastern Cape and was educated at Groto Senior Secondary School. He currently lives in Kuyasa, Khayelitsha. He has been working for the Isivivana Centre since June 2016.

Zwelixoline Sifumba – Security

Sifumba grew up in Nqamakwa in the Eastern Cape and was educated at Mtawelanga High School. He currently lives in Litha Park. He has been working for the Isivivana Centre since June 2016.

Siyabonga Sotomela – Security

Siyabonga grew up in Nqamakwa in the Eastern Cape and was educated at Cunningham High School. He currently lives in Delft. He has been working for the Isivivana Centre since June 2016.

Solomzi Mhlakaza – Security

Solomzi grew up in Centane in the Eastern Cape and was educated at Dondashe High School. He currently lives in Makhaza, Khayelitsha. He has been working for the Isivivana Centre since September 2016.

Thulani Moyeni – Security

Thulani grew up in Sada and Whittlesea just outside of Queenstown and was educated at Khanya Senior Secondary School. He currently lives in Site B, Khayelitsha. He has been working for the Isivivana Centre since June 2016.

Siyabonga Mbele – Cleaning

Siyabonga joined the Isivivana Centre in May 2017.

Vatiswa Mgadi – Cleaning

Vatiswa grew up in Ladyfrere in the Eastern Cape and was educated at Uxolo High School. She has been working for the Isivivana Centre since June 2016.

Veronica Sowazi – Cleaning

Veronica grew up in Keiskamahoek in the Eastern Cape and was educated at Ulana High School. She is currently living in Site C, Khayelitsha. She has been working for the Isivivana Centre since June 2016.
